Busy week

We had a busy week last week!  Brie started school:

We had a picnic &played at the park in the middle of the afternoon (gosh I love homeschooling!):

This past weekend we went to the Tumbleweed Festival at the local zoo.  It's a family even with arts & crafts for the kids and awesome live music all day long!  Here are a few shots:

We drank a TON of homemade rootbeer!

Hot Club of Cowtown
Saturday night of the festival, we went to our first concert!  We saw the group BarlowGirl!  The are a rockin' girl band!  The kids LOVED seeing them AND we got their autographs!!!
This is a shot Morgan took of the concert & edited & entered it in photo contest. She didn't win (boo), but she did get a $25 gift certificate!

Getting an autograph:

Today we have the pleasure of Auntie Amanda being here!  She is here for work but gets to stay overnight with us!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great week!!

A few weekend shots

The weekend started off fun, but a little warm. We had a perfect camp site that was across from the bathrooms, beachfront & far from other campers. Jenson was happy:

We fished

We swam - and so did the dogs!
We played in the nasty lake mud!

The boys went on a ride they will not soon forget:

Some of the boys camped

We had a fabulous time with family & slept hard on the way home:

What a weekend!

This past weekend we went to my brother's house who lives near Wichita, KS.  We went out on the boat, a few people camped, we ate like hogs, sweated like it was our job, and I also got the chance to take Jordan's senior pictures!  It was a fabulous weekend!  The kids slept hard on the way home!  I have over 600 photos to go through.  Here are 2 of Jordan that I love!  I will post more later today!  Happy Monday!

Back up your photos

Recently, I had a little chat with 2 good friends about backing up computers.  Folks, I am here to tell you that you HAVE to back up your goods in some form or fashion.  Personally, I back up my photos and scrap goods to 2 external hard drives AND I use Carbonite which backs my junk up automatically when I am not on my computer.  Why so much, you ask?  Because I would be devistated to lose my memories, my hobbies, my life.  I fork over $50 per year for unlimited back up with Carbonite.  Are they foolproof?  I doubt it.  But having peace of mind knowing I have my stuff backed up at another location is worth $50 to me!  Do yourself a favor and back up your computer. TODAY. :)
BTW, here is a blog article from a site I trust that has a little info on externals.  Here is part 2 of that article.
Happy backing up!

Exciting news!

Life is good.  I applied for the Creative Team over at mscraps and got accepted!  (For non-scrapping folks, a Creative Team uses the store's digital goodies to make layouts to advertise for the store, along with other duties.)  Here is a layout I created:

Jenson...again! :)

I spent most of this past week with my new nephew, Jenson!  We was such a doll and so easy to photograph!  In this photo, I used natural light from a wall of windows behind me & a 50mm lens with my camera set on aperture.  (f/2.5  1/100sec) Here is another layout I did of him:

60 miles

It was two years ago today that I walked in the Chicago 60 miles Breast Cancer walk.  I walked with 5 dear friends.  We walked in honor of folks with all forms of cancer; Kristin's mom, Kort's dad, Laura's mom.  We walked for you.  Here is a YouTube Video I made of the photos I took:

New home = New Decorating

ll items are by Designs by Anita
So we recently moved back home to Kansas.  I love being home, but honestly, moving is hard.  Yes, the physical move is hard, but the emotional part of moving is even more difficult.  Leaving friends, routines, doctors, grocery stores & church family has left me feeling a bit depressed!
One way I have coped, besides hanging with my favorite cousin, Laura, is decorating our new home. I love our new house.  Not a single strand of red carpet in the whole house! (our TX house had wall-to-wall red carpet!  YIKES!)  I am still deciding on paint colors for most of our rooms, but in the mean time, I have been taking my favorite photos and creating simple 5x5 layouts to post on our fridge.  This is a shot of my niece & nephew.  They are fabulous kids!  I might print at Scrapbooksplease as they have 5x5 magnets (but they are matte - yuck), or I might give Persnickety's a shot.
In keeping with the decorating spirit, I am super excited to get this 20x30 family canvas in the mail from shutterfly:

Do  you have any quick and easy decorating ideas?  I could seriously use some links for inspiration!  TIA!
Happy Friday!

This is all new to me!

Well, this is my first blog post.  I am sure that, as the days pass, I am going to have something astonishing to say.  Something that will keep you coming back for more.

Yeah right.  :)

Seriously, check back soon.  I am a work in progress.
